The husband-and-wife duo Mu Chen and Shao Yinong have worked collaboratively since 2000. The group’s best-known work Family Register (1998–2001) is a family genealogy project in the style of vintage photography from the revolutionary era in China. The works’ nostalgic presentation of their family also reflects the various social and political impacts on the individual and the collective in 20th- and 21st-century China. Since 2005, the duo has transitioned to producing mainly sculptural works.
