One of the most notable new media artists born in China during the 1980s, Shanghai based Lu Yang takes inspiration from Japanese anime, contemporary Chinese art, and Japanese electronic pop music in order to produce visually and thematically provocative video works that deal with neuroscience, gender fluidity, death, and religion.
